I'm back! For a minute…

Oh my word…or lack of them. Sorry to disappear, but I’ve been a little busy. Most of you know I bought a house aka The Shipwreck, a few months ago, but only a few people knew how much work the house needed.

Well, let me fill you in.
I closed on June 1st and started tearing down the deck in the backyard that was a health hazard on June 2nd. The previous owners had built fires on it and who knows what all, so it was full of weak spots and boobytraps.

I was able to tear the whole thing down with only one minor injury, thanks to a sweet housewarming gift from my buddy, Pamela Lambiase, who came down to visit.

After I took care of the deck, I started on the broken kitchen tiles.

Still feeling pretty stoked about my decision to buy a fixer upper, I called a dumptruck and tackled the inside.

In one day, my friend Hal (who came down to lend a hand) and I ripped out three bedrooms worth of mismatched laminate flooring, scraped up the vinyl floors that were under the patchwork laminate, tore out two sadly mistreated bathroom vanities and took down all the old ceiling fans and lights.
As soon as we finished, Coastal Current had me on their schedule and in a few days I had electricity. Wootwoot! Then I was on hold until the permits passed from the city to finish the rest.
So I took the break to work on Albert’s new digs. Albert is my turtle who was living with his foster family (Danny and Erin Saurers) back in Tennessee.

I’m so glad I did, because Albert hitched a ride down with my dad and Mark when they came down with a trailer full of tools to come work at The Shipwreck.

I won’t bore you with all the details, but somehow, in such a short time we turned this…
Into this…

Into this…

And we even managed to celebrate two birthdays, my dad turned 76 on July 24th and I hit 49 on August 8th, swim in the ocean a few times and keep from killing each other.

Okay, I’ve got to get back to work. There’s still so much more to do, but I wanted to let you know I’m still alive and missing the blog.
Thanks for reading and stay tuned for more updates.
